OUR LADY OF THE LAKE 7TH GRADE CCD STUDENTS PACK THE KARE KITS FOR OUR KIDZ

We'd like to thank Mrs. Michelle Lutter of Our Lady of the Lake Church for organizing the 7th Grade CCD Retreat students to pack kare kits for our kidzs once again. We greatly appreciate the continued support of the parish family. This has been a yearly event at the church and our children benefit from their kindness and generosity.

It is because of people like all of you that we are able to help so many children. We also appreciate your helping us to teach the young people in our community how important it is to help others.

EMILY PUTS OTHERS NEEDS AHEAD OF HER OWN

Instead of receiving birthday gifts this year for her birthday Emily asked family and friends to purchase food for our kids. Most children look forward to the gifts that they will receive on their birthday but Emily was looking forward to what she would receive for our kids.

ENCOMPASS HOME HEALTH KARES ABOUT OUR KIDZ

Thank you to Jaimie Kerbert for applying for a grant from her employer to benefit our kids. Jaimie and a group of her co-workers from Encompass Home Health recently came to pack kare kits with us and Jaimie presented us with a check in the amount of $1,500 from Encompass Cares.

We greatly appreciate the support of our mission to help the food insecure children in our community!!

BONTU GIVES UP HER BIRTHDAY TWO YEARS IN A ROW

A very special thank you to Bontu for putting our kids needs ahead of her own! For the second year in a row Bontu decided to ask her friends and family to donate food for our kids instead of purchasing gifts for her for her 9th birthday.

We are very proud of you Bontu for your compassion and kindness for others. You truly are an amazing kid and we are so grateful that you are part of our team!!

PACKING WITH TEAM & FRIENDS

It was another great Friday evening of packing the kare kits with team members and friends. It is amazing how passionate our young Jr team members are in their caring for our kidz! They arrive eager to work alongside their friends to package the kare kits for the kidz. Not only do they pack the kare kits but then they help us to set up the food for the next weeks packing!

The future of our community looks bright with so many kind, compassionate and caring young people. Great job everyone!!

TWO AMAZING LITTLE GUYS GIVING UP THEIR BIRTHDAY GIFTS ONCE AGAIN

Six year old Ryan and four year old Kamden once again chose our kids over themselves when it came time for their birthdays! They asked family and friends to bring food for our kids to their birthday party instead of gifts for themselves.They recently stopped by with their parents to deliver all the food they received. We were once again amazed by the kindness and generosity of the boys, their parents, family and friends. We will be able to provide kare kits to many children because of their donation. Ryan and Kamden you should both be very proud of yourselves we certainly are!! Great job boys!!!

KYLEE’S KARE KITS FOR KIDZ HAS EXPANDED TO HUDSON SCHOOLS AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP US IN HUDSON

Kylee’s Kare Kits for Kidz, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Leominster, MA has officially expanded into four of Hudson’s public schools. Last school year they piloted in two Hudson elementary schools and recently were invited to expand to additional schools at the start of this school year. The schools that are currently participating are Farley Elementary School, Forest Ave Elementary School, Mulready Elementary School and Quinn Middle School.

Kylee’s Kare Kits for Kidz was founded in 2012 by then ten year old Kylee McCumber. Kylee had noticed children eating breakfast in her school’s cafeteria before school started and questioned why. When she realized that many of these children would not have breakfast if it wasn’t for the food they received at school she became concerned. She worried about what they did on the weekends, during school vacations or the summer when they were not in school receiving the schools meals. She decided that she wanted to do something to help these children. She began to research ways to help and came up with the idea to provide what she called kare kits to the children every Friday so that they had food to eat over the weekend when they were not in school. The kare kits contain breakfast and lunch items, fruit cups, pudding, applesauce, juice, granola bars, crackers, cookies, snack items and fresh fruit. The kare kits are also offered to the children during the summer when they are not in school.

Kylee and her team of youth and adult volunteers’ package the kare kits every week in Leominster so they can be distributed for the children each weekend. In September they started their seventh year of their mission to help the food insecure children. Kare kits are provided to 9 publics school in Leominster ranging from pre-school through high school, four public schools in Hudson ranging from elementary school to middle school, one school in Townsend and to several families in Fitchburg and Townsend.

Kylee is recruiting volunteers willing to help pack the kare kits in Hudson on Wednesday afternoons after school. She is also looking for volunteers willing to transport the kare kits to the Hudson schools on Thursday mornings.
