Most children look forward to their birthdays with the anticipation of receiving gifts. But not all children are alike. Nine year old Lily is one of those kids. As her ninth birthday approached she decided she wanted to do something for others. She decided to have her friends and family donate items of food for our kare kits instead of purchasing gifts for her. She then had her Mom reach out to us to ask if they could come and pack the kare kits with us as well.
Lily along with her parents, her brother and friends recently joined us to pack the kare kits. She celebrated her birthday with us helping the food insecure children in our community. She also brought a donation of food that she received from family and friends in place of gifts for herself. Lily we hope you know that your kindness is amazing. You should be very proud of yourself for putting others before yourself. We certainly are!
