I would like to thank Mr. Val Halamandaris, the founder of The Caring Institute in Washington DC, for the honor of being one of the five young adult Caring Award winners for 2016. It was an honor to attend the 31st Caring Awards Celebration on October 22nd in Orlando, Florida and to be a recipient of this prestigious award. Not only were there five young adult winners but there were five adult winners as well. It was amazing to be amongst all these wonderfully caring, dedicated individuals who do so much humanitarian service around the world. I accepted this award for my entire kare kit team as I could not do this work without their dedication and support!
“The Caring Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the principles of caring, integrity and public service.” It was founded by Mr. Halamandaris in 1985 to promote those values and was inspired by his relationship with Mother Teresa. “The institute also sponsors the Caring Hall of Fame in the Frederick Douglass Museum where the inspiring stories and photographs of all the awardees for the past 31 years are on display. This historic site is located on Capital Hill in Washington, DC.”
Please visit their website at www.caring.org to learn more about this wonderful organization.
