My name is Kylee McCumber and I am the founder of Kylee’s Kare Kits for Kidz, Inc a non-profit organization that I started in 2012 when I was ten years old to help the food insecure children in our community. With the start of a new year I would like to thank everyone in our community and beyond for the tremendous support they have given me and my team over the past year. We would not be able to help all the children without the support of my team of friends, family and the community.

Kylee’s Kare Kits for Kidz is successful because of the dedication and support of my team and our supporters. A very special thanks to my team members Rachel Hinckley, Olivia Gallo, Devin Grimley, Jack Murphy, Elizabeth O’Neil, Haylee Deforte, Kenny Aime, Emily Brown, Ava D’Eon, Chloe D’Eon, Eric D’Eon, Robert D’Eon, Brenda Menjivar, Brian Petkewich, Patrick Bell, Paige Walker and David Hinckley.

I also have a tremendous adult team who helps with grocery shopping, delivering kare kits, working in our food pantry, organizing fundraisers and many other aspects of our mission. This past year we have been able to expand to provide kare kits to over 380 children every Friday throughout the entire year. This past year in addition to providing kare kits to all 9 public schools in Leominster we have added two schools in Hudson, MA, the Caldwell School a FLLAC Collaborative school in Lunenburg as well as a few families in Fitchburg and Townsend. We also recently completed our Holiday Mission of providing gifts to the children.

I am extremely grateful for everyone’s support. You may have made a food or monetary donation, spread the word about our mission, helped us grocery shop, donated plastic bags for our kare kits, done a story on TV about the kare kits mission, helped with a fundraiser, donated Christmas gifts for a child, had a Christmas tree with tags for the children for our holiday mission, donated coats, backpacks or school supplies for our kids, helped us wrap or deliver Christmas gifts, been a sponsor for one of our fundraisers, donated a raffle item, let us hold our 5K at your business, written an article about our mission, given us words of encouragement, helped pack kare kits, organized a food drive, had me on your radio show, invited me to speak at your school, church or organization, or even just wished us well. Please know that my team and I greatly appreciate everything you have done to support us.

People often ask me why we do what we do and I always tell them it is better to give than to receive and that we receive so much more than what we give. It is so important to be grateful for all we have and to pay it forward when we can. As I often say it takes a village to do what we do and our community is one fantastic village. Thank you all for your continued support of our mission to feed the food insecure children and to try to reach our goal of having no child go to bed hungry. Happy New Year!!
